Salmon sport seems to have taken off this week. There was a big movement of fish at the beginning of last week with over 1000 fish going through the counter at Riding Mill in two days, and sport around Hexham has been good with fish caught well up the South Tyne as well.
The recent rise on Friday/Saturday has stirred things up further and there have been reports of good numbers of fish in the Hexham and Watersmeet area with fish coming from the lower South and North Tynes over the last two days and some anglers hooking several fish. The majority of these have been salmon and some very nice fish have been seen with one or two more coloured ones mixed in.
Prospects of sport are looking good whenever we get a little bit of fresh water from now on.

Tight lines,
Neil
